The bell tower is a must for anyone in leuven. If you climb to the top you get a view of the entire city and a history lesson on Leuven during the 1st world war. If your lucky you can also get a bell concert from one of the musicians who controls the daily bell chimes. We got him to... More

There is an audio tour available that is well worth your time! I learned so much I didn't know about the history and architecture of the building. Be sure to climb up to the top of the bell tower, as well!

There was a Giant needle piercing through a fly. I guess that settle the modern mindset of a student nowadays. Loved the building.

This is such a big library, probably the biggest in Leuven. The bell tower needs to be climbed so you can see the view. From the outside, it looks very beautiful. The place is great!

There are so many books there and a lot of students as well! I could enjoy myself here for weeks on end! In this edifice, it has also carillons, one of the best on our planet! There are 63 bells, 63! Wow! Anyone wanting to see them, has to climb 300 steps! At the very top is a weather vane... More

The university library was destroyed by the Germans during World War I, so this is a rather modern building, although the outside looks old. The outside is nicely proportioned, and well the small detour to see it. Inside there is a small audio guide of the building, and the American funding that was used in building it. The reading room... More

We visited the city while on a Xmas tour and found the main square in front of the library full with lively markets and festive performances. This made the whole experience of the town and the library thoroughly enjoyable. It definitely has a charm about it. I would recommend coming to visit.

Building with an amazing history having been bombed in both world wars and rebuilt with American money and huge international donation of books

This was a fascinating find, we stopped in Leuven on our way back to Dunkerque and chanced upon this. As we were short of time we only wanted to climb the bell tower, the receptionist asked if we belonged to any discounted groups e.g. students, involved in education, which unfortunately we were not. However, as we opted not to have... More
