Bruges is a beautiful little town, but it can often feel very touristic. I was wandering down this little alleyway without having read any reviews, and stumbled upon de garre with some friends. Wow were we ever pleasantly surprised to find a place mostly filled with locals! The homebrewed beer is DELICIOUS as is the complimentary cheese and mustard.

Hidden in an alley just off the Markt, this place is an institution. Now on 3 floors, it is a traditional Belgian bar with a relaxing atmosphere and good beer. Beware of their house beer as it is 11%. Very nice though :) Well worth seeking out !

We came to Bruges with a tour group. We were lucky enough to make friends with some other couples and decided to check this place out. It was a great place to have drinks with friends! I would highly encourage you to make it a place to go on your trip!

Nice old feel to this pub; we went up the little spiral staircase and sat up in the wooden rafters where you can see over the balcony to the lower bar. Very small and cosy place, full of atmosphere. Lots of beers on offer to try.

Hidden away down a rather shabby alleyway, seconds away from the crowds of the Burg and Markt, an oasis of true Belgian beer. Set on two levels so don't be put off if you peer through the door and the place appears rammed! recommend trying the 'Garre' beer at 11% but beware as it packs a punch. If you are... More

It doesn't get much better than a glass or two of Garre. It is a small bar on three levels and you may end up sharing a table which is always very interesting!

I come to Bruges regularly, and this is always one of the first bars I visit, and I come back time-and-again. It's got a great reputation, and no trip to Bruges would be complete without coming here. Obviously, the legendary De Garre beer is a an absolutely must! Enjoy.

Fantastic little pub that my brother and his wife had used before. Very friendly bar tender...massive range of beers..warm and cosy..very clean and free bowl of cheese squares with each round of drinks. We always had the house beer that was 11 per cent..beware it tastes lovely but catches you off guard. The bar is hard to find but the... More

Massive menu sand helpful staff. Take the risk when looking down unremarkable alley and pay them a visit. One of the best of Bruges
