The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

Visited a couple of days after Christmas. It was nice, but somehow not as charming as seen in the movie "In Bruges". The crowds were quite large, so I can only imagine how large they would be during a busier time of year. Plus the whole area is very "touristy". I preferred Ghent.

Well worth the day trip to this medieval beautiful city an hour away from Brussels by train. You can walk or take the bus from the train station to the city center.

Loved the way it is all set out and the audio that goes with it. We were really lucky when we went as we left it fairly late and there were no crowds, so we had the tour to ourselves. We liked the way there were smells pumped out to make the tour more authentic. Would definitely recommend as one... More

We did a day trip to Bruges from Ghent. Very easy to get to by frequent rail services of around 30 minutes. The station is just on the outskirts of the historic old town area of Bruges and within minutes you are wandering around in this very delightful city. The day we went was a public holiday in Belgium and... More

Stadthuis very interesting. Also the Historium is worth while as you learn a lot about medieval Bruges. Bruges is interesting historically as it has survived many changes over the last 500 years.

Lovely big square surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. When we visited for New Year there was a beautiful ice rink all lit u with trees, surrounded by a christmas market. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful buildings.
