The historic center of Bruges has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 thanks to its status as one of the commercial and cultural capitals of Europe and its enduring Gothic architecture. The Belgian city center is cited as a great example of a medieval historic settlement, even while it has evolved over the years.

I really expected Shrek and Fiona to appear at any time! A fairytale place, the surrounds are very pretty. Bruges is a special place, the architecture is marvelous, the chocolate shops are to die for.

Just like the rest of the city, perfect in every way , you can spend hours just looking at the building. Especially with the grey weather all around.

Postcard charm. We loved Brugge and think winter is the time to go as everyone commented how crowded it gets from March on. FYI- Everything was open. The Saturday morning food market is a must see.

Even on a cold winter's day the historic centre of Bruges looks beautiful and each building tells a different story.

Well worth a visit, even if it's just for the architecture. The history is also amazing. Not the cheapest place to dine, so be careful!
