Bruges' City Hall (1376) is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is from here that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall, with its late 19th-century murals and polychrome vault. The adjoining historic hall calls up the city council's history with a number of authentic documents and works of art. A multimedia exhibition on the ground floor illustrates the evolution of the Burg Square.

Small but stunning

Very small attraction (just a couple of rooms) but the gothic hall is absolutely stunning and for the small cost it's worth a quick visit.

We hadn't planned on going in the Stadhuis because we had instead wanted to go to another attraction, which turned out to be closed for the whole of 2017. It was cold and raining so we decided to go in the Stadhuis instead. It costs €4 per person (February 2017) to go in, which we didn't mind paying because you... More

Bruges’ City Hall is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is evident that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall with its late 19th-century murals and polychrome vault. In the historic chamber next door original documents and artifacts are used to evoke the history of the city’s... More

Well you walk in and you can't help but say 'wow'. Vaulted ceilings along with beautiful murals all explained by a information sheet in the room. You also get a leaflet which explains who all the statues are on the front of the building. One of which is Adam and Eve in a cheeky pose! Small charge of €4 which... More

This was well worth a visit and the audio guide was a welcome addition. Entry to this also entitles you to entry to the Brugse Vrije.

This place had really gorgeous murals and a very, very thorough audio guide that explained in detail all the art, what it meant, and the historical significance. Totally worth it.

Even though it is just one room (excluding the side room with artefacts in) there is so much detail and grand splendour to take in. The amount of detail in the decoration and murals requires a lot of studying. For €4 each (or part of the €20 multi venue ticket) it is a must visit for Bruge - especially on... More

There isn't a lot here, still it is worth a few minutes of your time even on the busiest schedule to pop in and admire the wonderfully carved wooden ceiling and to see the old maps and paintings that show how little Bruges has changed since the 15th century.
