we took a short stroll along the ramparts of Ypres and came to the peaceful Ramparts Cemetery which I believe is the only CWGC cemetery within the walls of the city.

A small war cemetery at the edge of Ypres set on the riverbank on a small hill. Beautiful peaceful cemetery that you can just pause and watch the river meandering by.

Set on the walls with a view over the canal, the setting is very tranquil and well worth a visit, on a fine day the walk along the ramparts is very relaxing.

A well maintained cemetery immediately next to the Lille Gate. It is small with a few New Zealand Maori tombstones among others.

All of the CWGC cemeteries are worth visiting - and this is a handy one on an excellent walk from Ypres centre and around the historic ramparts.

Ypres is a lovely town to walk around with lots of interesting things to see & do . This is just one of the very many cemeteries in the area & well worth the visit

This is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful CWGC cemeteries of the Great War. Situated on the medieval ramparts next to the water, this is a serene place to think over what effect war has to humanity.

Overlooking the river, this is one of the most beautiful locations in Ypres. It contains the graves of soldiers whose task it was to repair the road out of the Lille Gate, the second most important way for soldiers to leave Ypres for the front...More
