The Market Square , has parking so find your way to the centre or centrum and park . Bars and restaurants overlook the square which by day is beautiful and by night stunning. The water fountain by the Flanders field museum is fun for children...More

Wonderful and seemingly typically medieval Belgian, yet it isn't as it and everything around was totally destroyed and flattened during the Great War, indeed Winston Churchill wanted to keep it as it was after the last shell was fired as a sort of War Memorial...More

I only spent a small time within the Market Square area of Ypres but really enjoyed the time I spent there. Surrounding the square are places to grab a quick snack and some amazing chocolate shops. The church is also a tremendous site and makes...More

To gaze around at the superb Gothic style buildings makes one realise the fortitude the Belgium people had in the couple of years following the end of WW1 when they reconstructed the town as we now see it, from piles of rubble

Very busy but the architecture around was excellent considering that it's all new because it was flattened in the first world war

We slowly walked about this area, soaking up the Belgian ambience. It looks old but in reality most of the buildings were rebuilt after WW1. Spacious, clean and tidy, with helpful locals. A lovely place.

Lovely place, a stones throw from The Menin Gate.Good to hear the chimes. The only problem was that the bus did not turn up (Some festival going on somewhere),fortunately some schoolchildren told us we would have to walk back to the Bus Station.

Lovely and picturesque. Relaxed drinks in the surrounding bars. Well lit and safe at night. Will definitely return.
