In all, 5,139 Commonwealth servicemen of the First World War are buried or commemorated in the enclosures of Bedford House Cemetery. 3,011 of the burials are unidentified but special memorials commemorate a number of casualties known or believed to be buried among them. Other special memorials name casualties buried in other cemeteries whose graves could not be found on concentration. Second World War burials number 69 (3 of which are unidentified). There are 2 Germans buried here.

Bedford House Cemetery is located 2.5 Km south of Ieper town centre. The cemetery lies on the Rijselseweg (N336), the road connecting Ieper to Armentieres.

From Ieper town centre the Rijselsestraat runs from the market square, through the Lille Gate (Rijselpoort) and directly over the crossroads with the Ieper ring road. The road name then changes to the Rijselseweg. The cemetery itself is located 2 Km after this crossroads on the left hand side of the Rijselseweg.

On our way back from visiting my great grandfathers grave ,my wife and i came across this beutifull looking cemetery.Located in the grounds of a former chateau. With several enclosures, this is a fairly large cemetery with just over 5000 burials, unfortunatly over 60% are unknown graves. With small moates running between some of the enclosures,it gives the impression of small islands. This cemetery can... We only decided to visit because we were looking for a couple of soldiers from the East Surrey regiment and it turned out to be one of the best cemeteries - it is beautifully done in the grounds of a former chateau.

A location which previously was the site of Chateau Rosendal which was used by the British as headquarters and also varies outbuildings for field ambulances. Contains the grave of a 16 year old soldier.

This is set in pretty woodland and ponds. Quite unusual but does have the elements that are found in CWGC cemeteries.

Deceptively huge cemetery set out in the grounds of a former stately home. Several different enclosures with landscaping, moats and the like. Look out for 1940s graves amongst the Great War burials. Well worth a visit!

The actual gardens and setting is fabulous. This war memorial cemetry is really nicely kept and maintenaned. However when you walk through and see the thousands of grave stones with no names on them it really does make you think and ponder the massive amount of casualties ( on both sides ).

This is certainly one of the most horticulturally attractive of the Flanders Commonwealth War Cemeteries and that is supplemented by a long pond that borders much of one side of it. A very peaceful place.

A nice setting with the water features adding a different aspect to the norm. There are so many graves here it will take time to walk the whole area. Decent parking and easy to find.

Such a moving place where over 5000 souls lie, many with no name. Beautiful setting and well worth a visit away from the tourist hordes.
