We have a passion for megaliths. And sharing this passion is our mission.Present day Evora is in the center of an ancestral landscape that has a significance for all Humanity. Here you can find the remains of some of the oldest monuments of mankind in Western Europe. The early farmers and shepherds that created them, some 7500 years ago, didn't just create beautiful and impressive monuments - they have envisioned an entirely new way of relating with their world and have set the foundations for our current way of life. The megaliths, embodying the new ideology of this period in it's fullest - the domestication and transformation of the natural environment - remain today as distant messages, hidden in the fullness of time.Join one of our tours and discover more about your own history.

One of the highlights of our 2 week trip to Portugal! Mario is an archaeologist passionate about preserving these megalithic structures (think Stonehenge) now completely open to the public, often on private lands - with no or little governmental protection. Mario gives a three hour guided tour of 3 sites. He is a wealth of knowledge about the history and... More

One of the best tours I've ever been on. Mario provided great interpretation about the megalithic sites around Evora, as well as about Portugal's landscape, politics, history. I don't think we had a dull moment. Well worth your time and money.

A brilliant tour. I re-jigged my itinerary especially so I could join this tour and was not disappointed. Mario is so passionate about sharing his knowledge of these ancient structures, their context in relation to other structures, and ensuring that they are well preserved for future generations. Without him to tell us the meaning of them all and point out... More

Megaliths do not tell their own story. Piles of rocks are hard to decipher. But Mario makes for a fun , informative and learning experience in his 3 hour tour.

Mario, who is an archeologist, leads a wonderful tour of three megalithic sites. He is full of information and really brings to life the ancient dolmens and stone rings near Evora. You get much more than from a visit on your own.

The stones themselves are striking as one of the few remains of the early millennia of human civilization but would have meant far less to us without the extremely informative and easy-to-follow discussions of our wonderful and personable guide, Mario. Equally valuable for us was his informative explanations in response to questions about Portugese politics, history and agriculture such as... More

Mario and his driver picked us up at our hotel exactly at the time arranged. We travelled with one other couple for a total of four people in our group. Mario has a great deal of expertise and passion for the megaliths. This tour was highly informative and educational. You are receiving a tour by an expert in the field... More

One of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. Anyone with even a passing interest in ancient human history will be fascinated by the story that Mario weaves. We were sorry when the generous tour came to an end.

Spend the afternoon w/Mario to get the full appreciation of the megaliths. He is passionate and well-informed about their history. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, without the tour, they might just be big rocks. With the tour, they become magical and powerful reminders of what came before us.

We spent a wonderful afternoon on this mini-bus tour with Mario, the owner and archaeologist. He gave us so much insight into the Cromeleque dos Almendres and Anta Grande do Zambujeiro! Without the tour, we would have just been looking at some stones. Now we have a much better understanding. And we really enjoyed visiting with him about all kinds... More
