Could use some additional interperative information, luckily we had more from our guidebook. Easy drive down a fairly rough gravel road a short distance from Evora. A nice quick diversion.

A bit out of the way but you can combine this with the nearby stone circles. This appears to be on private property but the owner allows people to visit it. No fee. A bit of a walk from the parking area--keep in mind if...More

We hired a car & driver to take us from Lisbon to Evora, especially to see this sight. Older and rougher than Stonehenge, and much less touristed, it was an honor to be in the company of these ancient stones arranged by ancient humans. I...More

.....not really worth the long walk from the roadside parking area. The path is only a meter wide and the dirt surface is heavily rutted. It's maybe 250 m long. A long way for anyone unsure of foot. Inistead, see the larger megaliths just an...More

If you are visiting the Almendres Cromlech, you may as well visit this site too. It is not as impressive, and the path is not as easy to walk as the one at the larger site, but it is worth the few minutes it will...More

A bit of a hike but worth a visit and a photo on the way farther up the road to the main formation. You can skip this, but not the larger formation up the road; a challenging drive but well worth it.

If you go to the Cromlech, you will pass this one on the way. It's a 5-10 minute walk from the road. There's not much there other than the one big stone. However, it is really amazing to think of it as having been placed...More

This lone monolith lies about 250 meters from the parking lot at the end of a narrow path. The monolith is about 8 feet tall and sits in a clearing by itself.

I thought this was pretty cool, but it's a long and kind of difficult walk over to the site, which is a single standing stone. It's neat, and I enjoyed it, but it's very much a "your mileage may vary" site. The Almendres site is...More

I'm not sure. It wasn't in our guide book. We just showed up and the guard happened to be there with another group. She reluctantly gave us a tour but made us promise to go into the nearest village to pay the 3 euro fee. She... More
