Been coming to the Algarve for years and this is still one of our favourite beaches. Huge long flat beach, not particularly commercial, there are some nice restaurants but they are on the back of the beach and not intrusive, lovely places to sit and people watch or just take in the view. Great beach for walking as we did... More

Beautiful and quiet beach in Lagos. A little less touristy than Lagos city itself, but with great connections to the surrounding areas including portimao

Such a long beach, wonderful white Sand, all along there are really very good place to eat, if you want to get into Lagos it's only a 10 min walk.

Meia Praia is a beautiful place to go either for a long walk by the shore or for a pleasant day at the beach. If its loads of beach bars etc, then don't go here. There are some nice restaurants near the beach but they don't intrude on the beauty of the place.

Long, safe, sandy beach in Lagos. You can always find a nice quiet spot, even in season. Safe bathing for kids, and a lovely walk taking in one of the beach bars for a drink or meal

The water looks inviting but a bit chilly for a dip. Golden soft sand with a few shells washed up. Try an evening walk at sunset, superb, and not busy.

This beach is pretty huge and not right in the city; that means it's a little less crowded. Trying to camp in the high season probably isn't the best idea, as it is illegal... but during the rest of the year, no one seems to mind. We stocked up in town (5-10 min walk) with wine and snacks, chilled all... More

Miles of golden sandy beach! It does tend to get a bit windy but the area is close to shops and restaurants so it doesn't really matter. If you can try to find freshly grilled sardines on the beach!

Lovely beach clean a few beach bars dotted along. There is a small ferry you can take across from the town for one euro, a good walk from the large rocks at the start of Meia Praia to the estuary a few miles away with golden sands all the way beautiful .
