We visited this museum during our two day visit to Lagos. The museum is quite small and is comprised of mostly written displays. We were expecting more. The museum has potential but just not there yet.

interesting architecture of a building that was once the town's slave market. i never can believe how inhumane people can be, but this is history and it needs to be told so we hopefully will never repeat it.

This is an excellent small museum about the slave trade in Portugal. It is well laid out and explained in an interesting way.

This place closed on every Sunday. Despite the relatively low entrance fee at €3, I do not recommend the visit. There was only a handful historical items displayed. They provided you with an iPad, that you could click in at different display counters for additional...More

Lots of flashy gizmos, with glass columns that light up with pictures and/or explanations of the slave trade, from a Portuguese perspective, but the items were repetitive and lacked any depth of fact. The tragedy and human cost of the slave trade seemed to be...More
