Lovely place to visit over Christmas. Looks like summertime would be great too, with an outdoor pool and lovely meandering streets.

A pretty, tidy village located in the hills but... we were in time to view an amazing tableau of Nativity Scenes beautifully crafted with working models and cleverly landscaped. Around the village were stuffed half size models of characters from The Nativity.

We made a special trip to see Monchique but could not understand the hype. It a nice enough village but nothing special and only took half an hour to walk around. The surrounding area is great for touring but you don't need to spend much time in Monchique.

I think this place is overrated unless you like long drives. Not much to see. The town is quaint but in our perspective had very little to offer.

we were located in silves and had a private car and we arrived maybe after two hours in the sleepy village monchique. before we stoped at the place which gave monchique its name. "caldas de monchique"...a natural spa...with high class hotel...located hidden in a steep valley...is very nice, but maybe in 30 minutes the whole place was explored. monchique itself... More

Everything was nice. The place, the food, the beds. And there is a lot to do in that part of Portugal.

The mountaineous views were breathtaking. On a clear day one can see for miles and it is quiet beautiful. Well worth a visit.
