Eventually found the way into the castle! Signs in the town are very confusing and the tourist information office was shut as the sole assistant seemed to be taking someone to the doctor! The castle is well worth seeing. Just keep children by the hand as the walk around the ramparts is mostly unfenced. You can go into the underground... More

Spent a happy couple of hours exploring the castle. Great views of Silves and surrounding countryside from the walls and the remains of the palace from the time of the Moors can be seen, although the information boards were hard to read (faded) on our visit. The modern cafe building in the grounds is built over water and has formal... More

the views and history to this place are quite something this is my second visit to the castle and the only disappointment was the rude and obnoxious member of staff on the ticket desk. not only had she offended the family in front of us in the Que but when we eventually got around to paying as it seemed she... A great castle with lovely views over the countryside. Although there are really only the walls to walk around it is well worth the entry fee of 2 euros 80, there are some stunning views over the local area and city plus you can also see the storks soaring on the thermals around the castle. Don't forget to visit the... More

Terrific finding, a moorish castle/fort to walk around and imagine what the area was like 5000 years ago

Have visited before and was very impressed with the layout of the site and the views from the wall .Called again as I had friend with me who had not been before.Whilst the views and layout are just as impressive, I was disappointed with the manner of the lady operating the sale of tickets and entrance. She was very offhand... More

The castle is in a wonderful location perched high on a hill, you can walk around the walls and look out over the countryside and town. The exhibition in the cistern on the Iberian Lynx is very interesting. The cafe is a very modern building, out of touch with its surroundings,as are the internal walls and paths, slightly shoddy upkeep of other... More

Its a nice old castle you can walk around the walls it was not expensive to enter its worth a visit. Its played a large part in Silves history so of importance to Silves people like Stonehenge is to us. A little unsafe for Young Children.

Agreeable potter around quiet town. Not much going on but probably due to it being out of season. Imagine it gets busy...
