This former cathedral (until 1577, the bishop's church is now in Faro) was severely damaged in 1755 in an earthquake, but sympathetically rebulit, The east end in red stone is ancient, the whitewashed remainder more recent. The north-east chapel has an unusual statue of Jesus...More

This is a beautiful if unassuming Cathedral. It is well worth visiting if you are interested in architecture or religious buildings.

The Sé cathedral is the largest religious building of Silves. The entrance is on the right of the building (small door) and an entrance fee of 1 euros is required. 1 euro is nothing compared to all the maintenance costs of such a building. Therefore...More

Enjoyed a visit to this cathedral. It’s a small one but fascinating. Only €1 to get in each not loads to see or do but pleased we went. Shawl provided at receptions free of charge if ladies have bare shoulders on entry to the cathedral....More

Whilst in Silves we were looking for a mass and asked at the cathedral. The cathedral is beautiful inside and out. Beautiful music playing inside and very interesting stations of the cross. Well worth the euro entrance fee.

Cheap to get in and some nice things to see. But as in most of the historical buildings, sadly lacking in information to engage, It is a lovely space though and well worth a visit.

Really well worth the €1 entry fee. This Cathedral is full of history all of which is well explained in the interior signage. Stonework in the altar area is particularly impressive. However parts of the wooden flooring require serious remedial work.

Definitely nn need of some exterior TLC, this Cathedral is fairly ordinary with nothing particularly different to recommend it. Not worth a special trip.
