Peters is an amazing place. The bar, the scrimshaw museum upstairs, the way you sit with strangers who don't speak your language and yet by the end of the evening you have made many permanent friends. Peter's is a family run business (Peter was awarded the keys to the gates of London for his contribution to the allied war effort... More

This is a local favorite place plus extremely popular with tourists. We had two meals there during our stay and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Servings are generous and the food is very tastey. Great value for your money. There is a local flavor as well as it appears to be a gathering spot for sailors coming in and out of... More

We were told not to leave the Island without a visit to the Scrimshaw museum which is apparently World famous. Went early one morning and we were the only couple there until just before leaving. I was impressed(My wife not so) with the large amount of Scrimshaw present in various forms and sizes which must be worth much money. i... More

"Peter" seems to have a lock on the tourism in this town, and it's easy to see why. The Scrimshaw Museum is located above the cafe, and for a few euro, a guide will go in with you and explain the history of the place and all you ever wanted to know about scrimshaw. I thought it would be a... More

Just got into town and went here. The service was quick, menu had good variety and beer was cold. Place has character.

Interesting to see what sailors have made of pictures and portraits on whaleteeth! Here are really many items of schrimshaw art.

Just above the harbour it is a very conveniently located cafe doing good food and drink at very reasonable prices. If you can get over the fact about killing of whales in the past the scrimshaw museum is also worth a visit

I ate in the extension across the road and the food (and service) was very good. I would say though do not bother with the Scrimshaw museum, it costs I think it was 2.5 euros entry and 90% of the stuff on view is modern machine made stuff. There are other, better whaling places with older, scrimshaw to see.

Even with a reservation the entire dinner process on the deck was much too long even though staff worked quickly - problem must be with overwhelmed kitchen. Overrated as a tourist must see.
