We recently visited the Azores Islands which offer many engaging trails for hiking and fell walking. The local people boast that there are more cows than humans here. Well, they seem to have got that right because on some of the routes we had to...More

This place is so beautiful that is hard to describe in words. You have to see it for yourself to feel the energy and the surroundings of this beautiful place. Go there, do hiking, take pictures, hide a horse, see the caws, see the flowers...More

Wow, we went there first thing in the morning and there was no one there but it was cloudy so there were not real colors. Alas we headed down to the 7 cities and viewed the town and sipped cappuccinos while gazing at the lake....More

We were lucky enough to have a sunny day when we visited and the views were incredible. Walking around at lake level was also very pleasant, I highly recommend visiting if you are on Sao Miguel.

Gorgeous viewpoints...it's hard not to be blown away by this area. Sete Cidades is fantastic, peaceful, and well worth the drive out! Lucky for you if you go on a sunny day!

We rented a car and drove there on our own. That way we were able to go at our own speed and stop and hike. It's an easy drive as long as you are comfortable driving on narrow roads!
