Lovely square

The promise of 'forever' for those who pass through one of these beautiful gates in the centre of the city is interesting

Such a lovely, clean place, really great history. We so enjoyed walking around and shopping and sitting watching the world go by.

Fun place to stroll through on a sunny day. The architecture and old feel of this part of town are charming and inviting. Love hearing the church bells ring every hour.

This place is nice to see, but it is nothing special. Nice church and port in main square and that's it.

after a tour with jorge, we walked around town of this port and loved the architecture using lava rocks and the detail of the sidewalks throughout town, each street with its own patters using large mosaic type black and white square cut stones. the city is very clean and shows that the people here love the city they call home.

When you are surrounded but so much natural beauty in Açores everything else seems mundane. This is a nice location but it's not amazing. At night however the lights really add some life to it.

In the old day of Ponta Delgada the gates were very near the water and were the formal entrance to the old city. Now they are located inland from the water near a central square (piazza) that is loaded with restaurants, cafes, tavernas, and shopping. You don't have to go out of your way to see them as they are... More

Pretty town square visited while ashore after our ship berthed here on a transatlantic Southampton to Caribbean cruise. Had a wander around the town. Some pretty gardens. There was some free WiFi close to this square which I made use of.

This is a quaint part of the island where you can walk around to do some sightseeing and/or shopping. It gives you a feel for what the island architecture is.

We enjoyed our stay in Ponta Delgada. We stayed mainly on the island of Terceira with a side trip to Sao Miguel. Angra and Praia are beautiful, old world cities. While Ponta Delgada has more shops, restaurants, and is a port city, some of the luster has been lost in the form of abandoned spaces and modern buildings.
