I like churches. I like to see a snippet of the times they were built in and see the art work that is in them. (I am not religious.) Churches played more important roles in years past, so I find them fascinating. This small island had so many churches that my husband was pretty much over them. No thyself. It... More

The Se Cathedral is located on the main street through the city center. The yellow and white cathedral is located up a wide flight of steps. The best time to visit is during the day to see the design. I visited at night and loved the play of light against the building.

The cathedral is beautiful on the outside and what makes it unique is the art you will find inside, as it is very modern, it makes for an interesting juxtaposition between the past and the present. I decided to make it a priority to attend Mass on Sunday and it was an amazing experience. The choir with the acoustics was... More

Not much to see, nothing is labeled. No staff to ask questions. Most of it rebuilt after earthquake so not very old either.

This cathedral is very beautiful and old, and very fresh inside too. The bones in the catacumbs very scary...but amazing. You need to visit.

The mixture of classical and modern art make this church a must see. Local artists work are displayed amongst the historical to great effect. Pity about the staff who felt playing a computer game was more important than answering questions or providing information... very strange and a bit sad really.

We went as a family over the island's Mother's Day and this is what I asked for. We are not Catholic, but wanted the kids to see mass in this beautiful cathedral. Worth it to attend. So beautiful! Even the kids enjoyed it.

The Cathedral is well worth a visit and if you are lucky like we were you will be able to listen to organ practice, which was beautiful.

While strolling along through the city of Heroismo Do Angra, I came across what I thought at first tone a lovely church, until once inside, did the size of it set in. I attended the 11:00 Sunday service and was amazed with the acoustics. The Cathedral is worth a visit. They charge €2 to enter during none service hours and... More
