Attended Christmas Morning Mass

Walked from the hotel to the Cathedral for morning mass. Unsure what time mass was I arrived shortly before 1000. Mass was at 1100 so I walked across the street for a cappuccino... read more

Worth a visit because it's the cathedral of Angra, but other churches and convents in the area have more interesting features for tourists. The steeples, with their chevron pattern, are visible from many places around town. A statue of Pope John Paul II is outside, commemorating his visit to this church.

Se Cathedral was a perfect mix of history and religion. You have to pay two euros to go in, but its worth it. Its very peaceful, beautiful, majestic. A staple in Angra.

The Se Cathedral is really a beautiful piece of history. Right in the center of town, it's color departs from a lot of buildings in the Azores, but the architecture remains quintessentially Portuguese with impeccable symmetry in the facade. Unfortunately it is not set up completely for tourism so you must do some of your own research beforehand as you... More

this church was beautiful and the mass was a lovely experience. The architecture is gorgeous and we enjoyed spending our morning immersing ourselves with the locals sharing their religious culture.

Walked from the hotel to the Cathedral for morning mass. Unsure what time mass was I arrived shortly before 1000. Mass was at 1100 so I walked across the street for a cappuccino. The Cathedral is very beautiful but not to ornate. The place felt very spiritual and the choir was uplifting. At home mass is said in English and... More

We attended Sunday mass so did not have to pay to enter. The inside was not as impressive as I expected except for the silver alter at the side. Acoustics were not great for the organ during mass

Really not much to see when you've been in the other cathedrals in Europe but worth it to see what's in Angra

If you like churches, you can visit this one. But it's not that special. But Angra do Heroismo itself is worth a visit. The town is Unesco world heritage.

I like churches. I like to see a snippet of the times they were built in and see the art work that is in them. (I am not religious.) Churches played more important roles in years past, so I find them fascinating. This small island had so many churches that my husband was pretty much over them. No thyself. It... More

The Se Cathedral is located on the main street through the city center. The yellow and white cathedral is located up a wide flight of steps. The best time to visit is during the day to see the design. I visited at night and loved the play of light against the building.
