This museum is a historical museum, thankfully in both Portuguese and English (most of the museum is). We found it interesting that the layout is somewhat backward, requiring a guide to show you where to go next (they do), and even then you'll need to...More

We had some time before our departure from the island and stopped into this museum. We were very pleasantly surprised at the extent of the museum. It had great exhibits that explained lots of the history of the area.

The museum has a wide variety of objects that picture the history of the Azores. But the true diamond is the church. Especially the azulejos on the first floor are impressive. Even if you don't like ancient couches, step in the church and enjoy.
