This church sits at one end of the Praça do Comércio. Nothing breathtaking inside, but that seems a positive quality, contributing to the church's atmosphere of quiet meditation and spiritual repose. It is easily accessible, so the passerby should take a few steps off the trodden path and pay it a visit.

This is a rather old church (maybe 10th century) which was redone in Baroque style. The main feature is a painting depicting St Bartholomew's martyrdom, otherwise just a nice church.

It's a beautiful church located at the south end of Praca do Comercio. According to the municipal sign the foundation of the church dates back to the 10th century but it was rebuilt first in the 12th and again in 18th century.

Modest but beautiful church located in the historic center of Coimbra in the main street Rua dos Esteiros. This is a simple example of Baroque architecture, and certainly not the best I've ever seen in my life but it is worthy of note. Very nice facade although it would need a light restored. All in all, walking through the streets... More

The Church of St. Bartolomew is located at Rua dos Esteiros, 1. It is known in Portuguese as the Igreja de São Bartolomeu. The church was built in the 10th century and reconstructed in the 12th and 18th centuries. The reconstruction in the 12th century turned it into a Romanesque church. Today the church has the Baroque look. The façade... More
