What a fantastically decadent place. Amazing colours and furnishings. Splendidly over the top. It's quiet (a bit of a hike up the hill from Belém) with amazing views and informed and friendly staff. Well worth the €5 entry fee.

Ajuda National Palace, former royal palace and national monument, is now a magnificent museum and the only palace in Lisbon that still reliably conserves the layout and decoration of the rooms to the taste of the 20th century, namely the chambers of the monarchs and the throne room. Situated on top of Ajuda Hill, with a breathtaking view over the... More

Get there early to avoid the queue. A large spacious building and worth visiting if this is your thing.

The Palace sits atop the Ajuga Hill in that same neighbourhood and is a steep climb from Belem. But it more than rewards your walking efforts or taking the Tram 25. From the outside it's impressive - huge, plain and stately with terrific views of the Avril 25 bridge. But the inside is wondrous, chocker-block fill of the most amazing... More

Interesting interiors, which can be accessed for free if you have a Lisboa card. I understand that this palace had a lot of importance and has been used quite a bit for official purposes in the not too distant past.

Its a must destinations for tourists i think. We went as a group of around 100 students and it was just amazing! The architecture, park, all the paintings, the statues outside, everything was very fancy and royal. It is not a typical royal palace u might visit, its a really beautiful place with all the paintings from different ages and... More

On my seventh trip to Lisbon, I finally got to the Ajuda National Palace and it was the biggest surprise of my whole trip. We took the bus up to just around the corner. After a day of waiting in line with large tourist crowds, we weren't even sure that this was the right place. It felt like nobody was... More

We really love royal history, that's why The Ajuda National Palace was a must-see attraction for us. The palace has many beautiful, luxurious rooms, paintings, furniture, dishes! Walking through the palace and looking around felt as if we were brought to the royal times! There were very few people in the palace, which made the visit even more enjoyable! We... More

A beautiful palace to visit with lots of furnished rooms and a even though it is undergoing a renovation, there's plenty to see and get a good feeling of last monarchs of Portugal. AND go to the Museu dos Coches nearby (25 min walk)

What an absolute prime location, overlooking the cityscape of Lisbon and over the Tegus and towns beyond, very nice. I was down at the Vasco de Gama monument and saw this beautiful building perched up on the hill, just jumped out up there, very impressive looking.
