Opened in 1998, the Oceanário was the centerpiece of the XXth Century's last World Fair, themed "The Oceans, a Heritage for the Future", and eternally binds Lisbon to the Oceans.MissionThe Oceanário’s mission is to promote knowledge of the oceans and bring up the public about the duty of protecting natural heritage, through changing their daily habits. While walking through impressive and unforgettable exhibits, visitors are encouraged to learn fascinating things about the oceans and, more importantly, how to make decisions in their daily lives that actively promote the conservation of nature.

Probably the best oceanarium you'll have the chance to visit! Perfectly preserved and with great animal life. Good displays of information and some activities to keep children interested in the visit. Definitely worth the money and the time

Having been to a number of these over the years I was sceptical. How I was wrong. They have developed a fantastic environment to showcase some of the wonders of the sea. It felt so much more realistic and natural than any other aquarium I...More

Central aquarium is the main eye attraction. Eyecatchers which you don’t see that often were the playful sea otters and the giant sunfish.

Visited today and was blown away. Never expected penguins and otters in an aquarium. The facts on the way round were really interesting as well found out loads I didn’t know.

Really fantastic aquarium, one of the best to visit without a doubt. Well maintained, with an astonishing collection of marine life. The main marine aquarium is colossal and you can view from many points, on two levels. Don’t get concerned if the first couple of...More

After reading such positive reviews about this we were eager to visit whilst on our travels, however were slightly disappointed, it was not what we expected. It is over crowed and over priced, it is just one huge fish tank that you walk around. It...More

Don't go if... 1) It's a public holiday or school holiday. It was so crowded, you sometimes couldn't move forward or backwards. 2) If you have a visual impairment. It was very dark. The tanks are well lit but you can't see your feet. 3)...More

This neighborhood was built up at the end of the 1990s
mostly because of the Expo '98. The pavilions and
structures that once were the home of all the Expo's

artistically significant. In Parque das Nações you'll
explore conference and concert pavilions, a shopping
center, trendy restaurants and an enjoyable cable car
ride you can't miss out on. On top of this, the

I am sorry my friend but you need 45 minutes to go there from the airport and another 45 minutes to return so you don't have time for that.

There is a small one inside (1st floor) and in the general area (5-10 mins walk) there are lots and lots of restaurants, offering various kinds of food (Portugese, Chinese, Steakhouses, Diners etc.)
