Chiado is Lisbon's smart area, with chic shops and polished cafes, mosaic pavements and attractive squares. It's high on a hill and there is no better way to get there than to take the famous Santa Justa elevator from the Baixa. Do take the steep walk up to the ruined Carmo church, and have a coffee at A Brasileira in... More

If you love fashion, movement and groove you should go to Chiado. Have a coffee at Brasileira and do some shopping in some nice stores. Go inside the magnificence churches and walk down rua do Carmo.

Up and down the hills we go...great shops, restaurants, bakeries, cafes, street performers. Exceptionally beautiful on December evenings when the Christmas lights are on.

Nice during the night for a stroll, lively, but this is where you find mc donalds and starbucks and the luxury stores, not the quaint typical Portuguese things.
