First the guide - Sofia was amazing! This was the most fun I've had on any city tour. Helped by the alcohol and her cheery nature she turned this into a very friendly and outgoing group event and really felt she was giving us a window into Lisbon life. So different from the regular tourist trips it felt more like... More

On the face of it this Walking Tour of Lisbon looked like a great tour, it was sold as a historical tour which would allow us to tour the city see the sights, taste some local dishes and take the ferry to cross the river Tagus. When we met our guide we were told that the Ferry Staff were on... More

I highly recommend this tour to anyone willing to explore Lisbon off the beaten path. The food was very good, Fado music amazing and I really liked our engaging young guide Rebecca who was explaining to us how Lisbon, Portugal and Fado go together. Plus you get to explore the Alfama neighbourhood, which has always been my favorite in Lisbon!... More

This walking tour was such a great way to see the city from a locals perspective. We did everything from seeing beautiful sights, sampled food and wine, and visited local shops. Pedro Osorio was a wonderful guide who made sure the tour was informative and catered to our interests. He was so accomodating and knowledgeable and at the end of... More

This walking tour was absolutely the highlight of our trip. Pedro Osorio couldn't have been a more informative, accommodating, or knowledgeable host! He was friendly and had lots of tips to share about Lisbon. Our group was small, consisting of only 4 people, but this made for a very fun, intimate view of the city. All of our excursions were... We did the Experience Lisbon walking tour and had such an enjoyable time. Our guide Rebeca was very engaging and enthusiastic and showed us parts of Lisbon which were off the beaten track. The food sampling provided a tasty insight into the local way of life and we also learned loads about the people and historical events which go to... More

My sister and I went on a Sunset Tapas & Fadu tour with our tour guide, Joanne, and it was sooooo much fun. Joane has a fantastic personality that engaged our group from the very beginning! She is a Lisbon native with a deep knowledge and passion for Fadu and her native city. We went to both districts for Fadu... More

Many thanks to Joana for such a fun evening, she always gave us just the right amount of information on this sunset and fado tour, as we sampled the delicious cherry liqueur then the petiscos (tapas to us!) which we enjoyed whilst listening to and watching the singing and folk dancing. I never knew how close their folk dancing was... More

We enjoyed many local delicacies in places we would not have known about or seen in our own travels around the city. Overall it was tour we would recommend to anyone interested in the history and... My husband and I did the "Small group walking tour with food and wine tastings" with Margarida as our guide and we couldn't have been more pleased! Margarida was not only knowledgable but so fun and genuinely took the time to get to know each person in the tour. She took us to non-touristy places to eat and drink selections... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
