We had no intention of visiting the Monument to Discovery and were actually just walking over to the Tower of Belem. I'm so glad we stopped. This monument was our consensus favorite spot in the entire city. The Monument itself is beautiful, detailing the history...More

Visited here during a business stay in Lisbon. The monument in the shape of a large ship was not actually as great as expected, but I guess the riverside park is a place you should take a look if you come to Lisbon.

An impressive monument to exploration. Located in Belem on the waterfront close to the Belem tower, you can get to the top for a superb viewpoint over the river. Plenty of stalls nearby for food and drink, as well as restaurants not too far away,

We visited here as part of a tour. The detail on the statue wS amazing including the most important discoverers. It is very impressive and a nice tribute to them. Read up about it before you go so you know what you are looking at

Even without buying a ticket a visit is worth it. You get brilliant view on river Tejo and the bridge and the monument is impressive.

A stunning piece of architecture. It can be seen from most locations along the river Tagus. In the late afternoon sun it takes on a rosy hue.

Great place to take pictures and view the city. Many vendors for any street treat. Not worth spending anymore than fifteen to twenty minutes at.

A lovely piece of sculpture reminding us, as if we needed it, of Portugal's significant maritime heritage. Great photo opportunity.

We say this monument as we sailed into the port of Lisbon, but then went back out to visit up close. It was a short drive - via Uber - from the old town and worth seeing. It is also very close to the monastery...More

museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and
breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your
visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of
