A place where Portuguese canned and fresh foods meet every day and where they combine to create a new concept in Mediterranean cuisine. We believe that if we sometimes eat with our eyes, then our ears can also help us to savour the best flavours. That's why you will find your meal accompanied by Portuguese guitar music every afternoon on the terrace and, in the evenings, by unique kinds of Fado.

We've got for lunch Codfish on sweet potato and spinach with garlic, sweet potato chips and ham from iberic pork: Fish was a bit too salty anyway everything was fine.

• waited over an hour for food • when it finally arrived the order was mostly wrong and cold • a friend of mine had a hair in her salad and was not offered a replacement • spoke to a "supervisor" who wasn't friendly, helpful or apologetic • was given the bill by the "manager" who was possibly the rudest... Lovely place. Attentive staff. Beautiful fresh soup. Motijo are "the best in Portugal". There is cocktail special of €5. Warm and cosy on the inside. Blankets for cool days on the outside area. Recommend for a visit

We stopped for a light lunch and had lovely food with great service outside. The indoor restaurant looked fantastic too.

We stopped in here for a snack and a drink on a sunny afternoon. It is right on the square, so lots of people watching. The food was fresh and yummy. Our server was very friendly.

Right on the main plaza with good views of the river front. Outside seating under umbrellas. Good food at reasonable prices, we had good service on a weekday night.

We wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather and sit outside to have a drink so when we saw the 5 Euro Caipiroska and Caipirinha drinks, we decided this was the place. The drinks weren’t bad, but we had also ordered a Octopus Croquette. The first time it came out, it was stone cold in the middle. And I mean cold... More

My husband and I went to this restaurant. It has a nice view and the customer service was excellent (Joaquin was very nice). The food was delicious and it was not expensive. I recommend it !

The food and atmosphere at Can the Can was great. A little taste of traditional Portuguese cuisine with a modern twist. The setting is amazing, the huge public square Terreiro do Paco which stands out as a Lisbon icon. Sitting outside you have great views of the review and the bridge in the distance. Try the sardines, of course, and... More

Ended up here a couple of times and regretted it each time. The location is great, but make sure you go with lots of time to spare because services is extremely slow. We waited 45 minutes for our food and drinks when the restaurant was extremely quiet. It is also very expensive and the food is only ever served cold... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
