A very enjoyable visit: I wish we had had more time to spend there. The room stewards were very friendly and informative. The adjoining cafe/bar is also excellent.

We did enjoy our visit here and do recommend a visit. We appreciated seeing the artefacts from the Cathedral and learning the history of the Cathedral. For us the main attraction was the superb collection of paintings by Flemish artists given by those who made...More

It’s a really scholarly place of high quality conservation. Do not expect very much in the way of interpretation or explanation. When I asked for an English translation of the interpretation sheets they simply said that they’re went any. Ok as long as you know.

5 euro entry into a very old building where the rooms are very spacious and well organised. Good descriptions in several languages the religious artefacts and paintings. I came to see the Fleming paintings but they were all religious in theme.

This is an extraordinarily rich collection of 15and16th century flemish paintings, sculptures, liturgical vestments from around the diocese, many from the cathedral, and silverware. There is a special exhibition at present celebrating 500 years of the dedication of the Funchal cathedral and especially the work...More

If you have a passion for church religious artefacts, this is the place. Good to see but not a priority for us. Located centrally so easy to combine with other sightseeing.

This is a great opportunity to take a step back in time and a chance to get really close to some beautiful religious objects. The brightness of colour on the paintings is amazing as is the intricacy of the silverware.

We had to climb a lot of stairs to the start of the Museum. We did not see a lift but there must be one. Once on the 1st floor there should not be any trouble with wheel chairs. There would be plenty of space to get a wheel... More
