Went twice to the market once on a quiet day and again on the Friday when it was really busy. I enjoyed the experience from flowers to bulbs and the coffee shop was amazing. Worth visit 🎋

Compared with other indoor markets I've been to this was very disappointing. Most of the vendors were selling the same produce and competing with each other to grab your attention. Took me about 15 minutes to walk round and get a few photos but didn't...More

Really nice place to pick up a few souvenirs and look at the locally made gifts and local produce. Some of the staff wear traditional clothing which is really nice to see. Worth a visit :)

A fascinating and very busy place. The main market is flowers and vegetables all very neatly displayed. Beware of being overcharged for fruit, particularly upstairs. The fish market at the rear is packed with fish and one can spend a long time just watching the...More

A melting pot of madeira life, the Worker's Market bursts with colour, tastes and smell. I'd recommend mooching through it's different stalls every day during your visit to Funchal, but do be careful-the prices can be pitched at the higher end of most tourist's budgets.

This is a must visit place when in Funchal. It is quite a large market with flowers, vegetables and fish in abundance. Very lively and colourful place. Watch out for high prices for fruit particularly upstairs.

Guys, this place is beautiful, but if you go up the first floor, you will get ripped off. The sellers lie about the passion fruits, you pay a lot, and when you try them at home, you will see that the flavors is sooo diferent....More

If you only have a short time in Funchal make time for this amazing market. Go early and enjoy the fish, flowers and fruit. Very near the cable car.

Lovely interesting market but upstairs they pester you to try things. We bought a small amount of fruit and it cost £28 euros. We were given 2 when we asked for 1, soon as we realised we went back. They refused to refund any money...More

No. Nearby are many restaurants in a re developed part of old Funchal. You will find plenty of choice along the narrow street that runs up to the fort at Santa Maria.
