December is not the ideal month to visit as many plants are semi dormant. I did not feel that the staff were very welcoming and some of them looked bored. The range of plants was impressive and the cacti were lovely.

We went in the overcast, drizzle of December so although it was a bit wet and didn't have the abundance of flowers of the summer, it was an enjoyable walk round and we were still able to plant spot, some known to us and some...More

The recent fires reached the edge of this garden and have closed the cable car - but go and support them. It's easily reached by no 31 and 31a bus - stop just down from the front entrance to the market. There are great views...More

Due to the fires the cable car from Monte is not in use and the walk is closed. Nowhere is this noted so we had to find out the hard way. When we got to the gardens we were most unimpressed. Though we appreciate that...More

Plus of course you can get there and back by cable car although noting it's two separate legs and not cheap but you can do as part of a trip up to the town further inland (forgot the name!)
