We went along to see the art, but was told it had moved. And it would be eventually an archeology museum, but not yet. Anyway, we paid 3 euros to wander round and it does have lovely views.

Interesting visit with an exhibition of old Madeiran photos. There are some good views and photo opportunities to be had.

We came across the fort whilst walking along the Funchal waterfront and having paid the modest entrance fee spent about an hour exploring it. A leaflet given on entry explains the history. A room displaying various local historical items was of interest and were well described by a guide in period costume and other rooms displaying old photographs were also... More

Lots of nooks and crannies to poke around in. An excellent way to spend an hour with lots of view points over Funchal.

If you are in Funchal then this fort is well worth a look, the views out to sea are great and you also get to see some of Funchal from the top.

For only 3 euros you can have a look around the Fort. We loved all the little nooks and crannies and had a really good look around. The views from the top are good too. There are pictures to look at inside as well. This place is definitely worth a visit as it's something different.

Little to see although collection of photographs on exhibition when we were there. Views over surrounding area. Short history brochure. 3 euros each, I think.

Interesting historical fort on the sea front of Funchal near to the cable car. Good views from every direction on different levels.Leaflet provided and cheap entrance fee. Lots of steps to climb so not appropriate for disabled however they may have a lift so ask first.

On our many walks we found the old Fort by the sea shore. Interesting building and some history to go with it all available in the travel guides etc.
