This is a professional outfit in every way. I have vertigo so discussed with their office whether I would have a problem. Lady said it depends because although the walk does have drops to one side, there is vegetation and some rope fences to help. In fact it was for me no problem at all - and in the past... More

Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful walk. There are things to see but not as much as I have been led to believe. The engineering feat itself is to be applauded. Walking through the driving rain all wet and soggy and looking at more water, probably does not help. I would recommend that you have comfortable sturdy shoes... More

We booked an easy half day walk to Paradise Valley and we were very disappointed with the walk. The description implied that we would have wonderful views, see spectacular gardens and that the walk would make our holiday worthwhile. Not so, the walk was a stroll through woods and there was a limited view of Camacha but nothing that wowed... More

We found this an amazing experience but a challenging one. The walking is varied ranging between quite gentle and undemanding up to what we felt was scary and vertigo inducing. We were both glad we did it and felt a real sense of accomplishment, but we were really tired. The views are spectacular, in part because of the height and... More

Did a level 2 levada trek with guide. 11.5 km and quite uneven ground but stunning views across jungle. 1500m high, often damp even when sunny on coast. Not expensive with pick up and drop off from hotel, knowledgeable guide. need decent walking shoes, waterproof jacket and lunch.

We went on the lakes of Madeira walk. the description online was very different from what the guide told us to expect when we started. The walk was better than our expectation after the guide's introduction and we enjoyed it even though the online description is not accurate and will give you false hopes. Transportation was comfortable, the guide was... More

Decided on this walk as it was a short drive. A gentle stroll through the woods is more accurate. Very few views though when you get one it is good.

We were in Madeira for a week and booked four levada walks with Madeira Explorers. We were new to the island so somewhat unsure as to who to go with. I'm pleased to say we definitely made the right choice. This company operates a very well organised, professional, entertaining, and - above all - safe set of excursions. We have... More

Yes, you have to do it when you're in Madeira. The visit is well organised with a pick up from the hotel, a great guide with a wicked sense of humour and a coffee stop at the end. Remember to wear walking shoes as some parts of the walk are slippery.
