Still 9 nuns is the monastary . Very inspired lady that showed us around , but it was a bit fast sometimes. Nice that it stillis there and surprised that it was so much bigger and a closed convent in the early days

Visiting this 15th Century Monastery was a MUST DO when I planned my visit to Funchal. It is a bit of an uphill trek but only about a ten minute walk from the Cathedral and is easily combined with a visit to the nearby Frederico...More

Not advertised very much but a great place to visit. Steeped in history we payed 2 euros to go inside and got a guided tour of the working monastery from a fantastic tour guide.

The entrance cost just 2 Euros and was guided by an informative person. Nice gardens and very interesting historically.

Ring the bell and step into a courtyard and back in time. Interesting 30 minute tour around the convent with a guide that you can join or leave at various points. It's a multi-language tour so a bit slow, but interesting nevertheless. What's really nice...More

It was a rainy day so we called in here as seen the reviews. We weren’t disappointed. Having rung the doorbell we were greeted and paid a few euros. We were asked to wait in the stunning church and were soon met by the tour...More

This was an interesting but slightly odd place to visit. You need to take a guided tour but when we were there the tour was on a rolling basis - the guide went around in a "loop" and you had to join at whichever part...More
