Located on the north side of the island near the end of the runway you'll find these ancient sandstone formations forged over millennia with the wind. They look really delicate but are rock hard. We didn't know about the old bath place at the bottom...More

We fell on this place located at the end of the runway, outside of the airport! You walk through rock formations out of a science fiction movie, formed by wind erosion, keep going to the end and you will find a spring hidden down on...More

A good spot for a photo. Als walk downstairs. You will find a abandoned bathplace. A natural spring used as bathplace in 1843. Unique sandrocks and a great view of the island and gorilla rock. Must see!

A place full of strange eroded formations and fascinating shapes but very little explanation on the spot, so you need to do your homework before visiting. Still the area is worth exploring.

The erosion through the time has created wonders - it's too called "the desert" due to the sandy soil.

Explore this place and admire the beauty of the "handcrafts" made by erosion in these hills. In the end of the course a nice view of the sea and the little islans aroud is available to enjoy.

Walking down the hill towards the Fonte, it is interesting to see how nature has sculpted the sands, and many past visitors have carved names, initials, hearts etc. into it. The spring itself is now a tap and without a guide it is difficult to...More

We stopped at the "sand fountain" on a 4x4 tour of the island - highly recommended - and were told by the guide that this is where the white sandy beach comes from. There is a decent expanse of sand dunes, and it is interesting...More
