We love cable cars: this one is good

We began from Penha. We were recommended to do it this way by our hotel owner, and I feel this is the better way to experience it. The prices are quite reasonable and the views... read more

We took the Telerferique up €3 each, one way, the park and area at the top is worth a visit , the church is a bit of a dull blocky building but the walk back to town following the red and yellow markets was fun.

I took this cable car to the top and enjoyed wandering around the gorgeous park full of enormous granite boulders, covered in moss. The views over the valley were splendid.

After figuring out the way to the teleferico it was worth it! At the top is a parking church plus a few cafes you can wander around. The places to eat are very Portuguese and it seems a holy place but a nice way to spend an afternoon without spending a lot of money Make sure to map it before... More

This was a great scenic trip . You can walk to the building or park your car outside in the car park. Tickets were €5 return- we really enjoyed the ride up to the park , looking down on the city and outlying areas. We passed over many different types of housing including apartment blocks , traditional houses and even... More

I was in Guimaraes for a couple of days and am so glad that I made time for the cable car ride to Penha Serra. Beautiful cathedral, hotel, rock formations, hiking trails. There is a campground that I didn't walk to. A couple of small cafes were open across the parking lot from the hotel that I'm not sure was... More

We began from Penha. We were recommended to do it this way by our hotel owner, and I feel this is the better way to experience it. The prices are quite reasonable and the views are good. We had a snack in Gimaraes and returned up the mountain in the evening after a pleasant day in the town. We then... More

You can catch the Teleferico near the Sao Francisco Church and you fly over the trees til Penha. You can transport your bike with you at certain trains. At the train you have an 360o. overview.

We used the teleferico on a cloudy day in October. We visited the church on the top of the mountain and ate lunch at the restaurant near it. It started to thunder and lightning during lunch. When we went back to the teleferico to go down, it was closed because of the weather. The lady there called us a cab.... More

Very quick and efficient way to get up and down the hill with some great views. The gondolas are small but feel very safe and secure. When we were there they were operating until 745 in the evening. Pehna itself is well worth a visit particularly the large rocks and boulders connected by a myriad of footpaths.
