There is a combination ticket that also allows you into the castle. This is really interesting with lots of old furniture. The place is large and well worth the visit.

Every room is in unbelievable condition, with original items. The chapel is particularly impressive with the wood carvings and the stained glass.

This Palace and associated castle is well worth a visit. It will cost 6Euro for a combined ticket. The information gives an inside to life of the Portugese in medieval times and the bith of Portugal. Information cards are available in different languages.

Good value visit to an extraordinary historic building which was restored in relatively recent times. I loved the 'boat' ceilings and enjoyed some of the furnishings such as furniture and textiles. Each room contains cards in a variety of languages explaining former use of the...More

Designated a National Monument, construction of this lovely French inspired palace was commenced in the early 1420's by Afonso, Count of Barcelos, future Duke of Braganza. Located next to the 10th century Guimaraes Castelo and Romanesque Chapel of Sao Miguel, these must see architectural attractions...More

A visit to the city should commence with the castle and the tiny Romanesque church where Afonso was probably baptized. Just across from the chapel is the imposing Paco Ducal where the palace is now a museum. It was formerly the Palace of the first...More
