This is a short and sweet ride down to cross the Duoro to Gaia and the Port houses. Well-worth the visit.

Recommend visitors take the funicular at least once. Great views and a lovely experience. Didn't take it back up but must do that on our next visit. Kids will love it!

My wife and I had been port tasting. We decided to take the fenicular railway up the hill instead of walking the steep incline. The cost was 2.5 euros each and the ride was well worth it.

Inexpensive, marvellous views, do it its brilliant. One carriage up with a cross-over half way the views of the waterfront are good but you then realise how close you are to the city.

Just to the side of the bridge on the opposite side of the river to Ribeira, a much more pleasant way to access the river areas

The funicular offers a nice view on the Ribiera district from above. We walked over the bridge and along the river, went for a taste of port wine and then took the funicular back to the bridge.

At €2.50 each way per passenger, this is a very short ride. Of course, it does take you up to the higher level without climbing the stairs or the steep streets. I guess that's what it's for. Interesting from the viewpoint of transport engineering.

The cablecar ride from river level to the entrance near the high bridge spanning the Douro river is rather short. However, on a clear sunny day the views are wonderful and great photos can be taken. The cablecars are solid, modern and well maintained. Still we regard the € 9 return ticket price rather steep.

Had planned a long walk and the funicular back to avoid the climb, so VERY disappointed to find it not working. Had to walk all the way back along the harbour side to avoid the steps.
