These trams are still in near original condition with wooden seats and all. We walked a lot during our first day in Porto, and it was well connected to where we wanted to end our day (and save our feet).

we took number 1 line to the beach. the tram is too crowded and you may stand for 30 minutes packed as sardines without fresh air.

Just like San Francisco’s iconic cable cars, Porto has it’s famous tram. Resembling a trolley, the tram has been operating since 1872, originally drawn by mule until 1904 (Lonely Planet, 2018). This is definitely a bucket list item for Porto. It’s also an inexpensive means...More

We walked down the bluff to the INFANTE tram stop and queued a short while to board this wooden piece of transport history. Kind of think you do once to say ...tick...done. Slow going and slower when locals park in the tram lines.Muppetts. There is...More

A lovely old electric tram with beautiful interior fittings. Marvel at the proximity of parked and manoeuvering vehicles and pedestrians!

Interesting experience. Glad to say I did it. However timetable completely wrong, supposed to be every 20 - 30 mins, However we were there for 40 mins before it turned up. It is very popular, so expect it to be very busy.

Hello, you do not need to have exact change, but it helps anyhow, you have to take it below at the San Francisco church. Have a nice time on the tram. Hans & Lucy.
