The São Nicolau church is located in the Rua do Infante D. Henrique 93, which is in front of the underground carpark and the statue of the Navigator, and just after this church you have the “Cais” of the Douro River. Unfortunately this church was closed on Monday as there allot of this locations who are closed on Monday, so... More

Even though the church is in a busy area it doesn't seem to get many visitors. Therefore it was nice to go in and sit quietly looking around,

Small but ornate alter, old but very nice and its free to visit. Worth the time to stop in and look if you are into visiting churches from around the world!

A church located close to the Palace of Bolsa. We went in for a quick peek on the way towards the river.

Not the best Church in Town, but it's free, and worth a peek Good landmark for San Francisco Church- right across the street and the Palacio do Bolsa. If you want to dine in the area please pick Adega do Sao Nicloau it;s the best one in the area!

across from the Bolsa and San Francisco peso if you are crunched for time it provides a very good example of a smaller typical northern Portuguese church

This church is located on the southern side of Palacio de Bolsa and is a quiet place, not as ostentatiously gorgeous as other places. It was also the place where some French men decided to hit me with their umbrellas and not even bother to apologise despite probably categorising themselves as classically stylish........and only laugh every single time I met... There was something, for me, which was emotionally overwhelming, when I stepped into this church. It is a beautiful church which is loved and cared for. The carvings are stunning and the colours are vivid. There was soft music playing and the white flower arrangements around the church were exquisite. The alter was very attractive indeed. It is a very... More

Similar to a lot of little churches in Europe. Across from the Palacio Bolsa, which I strongly recommend. If you go to this area, perhaps avoid the rather touristy restaurants, there are less expensive local ones further away.

This is a small church a little bit out of the beaten track. The interior is beautiful. If you have time take a look.
