Great Bronze in Athens

We bought three pieces and love them all. Savvas was exceptionally friendly. He carefully packaged our large piece and got to us in good order. I highly recommend this gallery.

Purchased a sculpture from this Gallery. The proprietor was a true gentleman, very friendly, courteous and helpful. The Gallery was well appointed and inviting, with some beautiful pieces. Would strongly recommend a visit.

A beautiful shop with a woderful selection of bronzes and other art items. The owner Savvas is best described as truly a gentleman and a great ambassador for Athens.Bought a splendid Spartan helmet which looks magnificent in its new home. dont miss Gallery Demeter.

I called into Gallery Demeter this evening after making a purchase online through his store last year. This time I have come away with a bronze of the Charioteer - Savvas is such an informative and helpful person, and I'm glad that I have finally had the opportunity to meet him. The store is full of high quality bronzes and... More

I was in Greece last week and visited Gallery Demeter where I purchased a beautiful bronze sculpture which was shipped to Chicago due to size. I received the sculpture in less than a week. Great service. Fast shipping. Thank you

Strolled through the Plaka area of Athens looking for quality reproductions of Greek art. Tons of places sold poor imitations, this gallery had some reproductions that were top quality at reasonable prices. After some negotiating we arrived at a price that included shipping. Sure enough, the bronze statue arrived very well protected in bubble wrap and styrofoam pads three weeks... More

We were quite impressed by the quality of the gallery's artifacts, and purchased a significantly large bronze horse weighing about 18 kgs/ 40 lbs. The owner, Savvas, packed it up very efficiently and personally delivered it to our nearby hotel that same evening. He was very helpful by explaining the VAT refund to us, and even assisted us in filling... More

We have been to this shop several times and always buy something. The quality is excellent, the prices are good, and Savvas, the owner, is one of the nicest people we have ever met, anywhere! He is a true gentleman, a joy to deal with. His shop is an art gallery, rather than a tourist shop like the others, up-market... More

While I did not purchase anything here, I was impressed with the quality of the gallery's craftsmanship. The items available for purchase were museum-quality and unique in comparison to the many stores in the area. The gallery's presentation was nice and all items were appropriately marked with prices. The owner was present for questions but not overbearing. There was a... More

I can recommend this shop 100%.Top quality bronze replicas far better than near by shops selling other tourist trinkets as well. Savvas was a delight to deal with providing me with help but no pressure to buy. I did return twelve days later with our guide who was an archaeologist and he was most impressed with the quality of the... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
