Athens is very hot for much of the year, and the square provides a much needed break from the sun. You can sit and have coffee or lunch, and just watch the people walk by. It is also very close to lots of shopping.

This is further east of Syntagma, we walked up here. The area looks bit upscale and elite. There's nothing specific for tourists here. Can be skipped.

We'd read that this was one of the must see squares, but wasn't really for us. If you like shopping this would be a great area, but for us, this was not a highlight. The park in the square is nice and quiet, and was...More

You've seen this type of area in countless city. It is where the fancy restaurants and shops are. Nothing really uniquely Greek, all the high end shops seen around the world. Not a bad place, it is quite lovely, just nothing unique.

This is the lical hang out spot.. lots of restaurants and the more upscale place for a bit of high end shopping. Kolonaki is not too far from syntagma square. Its really a clean and very nice more laid back area.

Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is
grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from
the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its
underground stalls, the square is now mostly
frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The
most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set
off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually
coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a
