I don't feel safe walking on this square. Decades ago, Omonia square was a nice place, now days walking on daytime alone is asking for trouble, imagine afterwards when the sun goes down.

My wife had her passport and money stolen from her backpack while she wore it! They are very clever! They pushed her and crowded her so she lost perspective of what was going on. Avoid crowds and wear your backpack backwards!

Central Square of Athens with good connections with metro / subway, bus and trolley bus. A lot of coffee and shops around. No touristic monuments or children attractions. Not very clean and with the problems of any European square. Make attention during the night for...More

A few pickpocets tried to rob me in that area in one of the streets, one asked a question while the other one opened a chain of my bag, so be careful there and don't put valuable things in outside pockets.

Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is
grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from
the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its
underground stalls, the square is now mostly
frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The
most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set
off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually
coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a
