My 2 year old son LOVED his trip to the museum! He really didn't want to leave. Staff were very attentive and interacted with the imaginative play. Would highly recommend!

Great way to pass an hour or so with the kids. We visited with our 8 and 11 yr old and had a nice time. Definitely worth a visit. Really good for kids to have a play with colour, smells, touch, toys and items from yesteryear. Workshops take place here with a cute functional little kitchen and other presentations take... More

The Hellenic Children's Museum is a treasure found in the beautiful Plaka distric of Athens. My 4 year old enjoyed the interactive character of the museum, which offers a lot of possibilities for learning and hands-on exploring. The entrance is free, and the staff is very friendly and engaging. Unfortunatelly, there are no English translations for the instructions regarding different... More

Bringing my six year old daughter there for a few hours made my girl so happy! seeing her smiling face, i felt relief that we came to Athen not only for pleasure of me and my husband, but also for my daughter. This museum is a small but magical place for kids to have fun in a quiet way.

I was initially put off bringing my little boy (3 years) because I thought it was actually a museum of sorts. It's not, it's a brilliant little play house with different zones - building blocks, shops, house, water - where the kids can play. That's an amazing thing to have, so simple an idea, but so welcome in a city... More

Pleasant place where to stay for some hours to let the children play. Different rooms with different themes. Nice to see children speaking different languages can play together

Fantastic place for keeping your little ones entertained as there aren't that many in Athens. My 21 month old & I have visited on numerous occasions and love it. The staff are lovely and also speak English, on 1st March (considered first day of Spring in Greece), they offered all the kids Martis-a red and white friendship bracelet so that... More

After visiting the Acropolis and other sights with our 2 year old daughter, we wanted to provide her with a completely other experience. So, we went to this museum and she liked it a lot. Staff was really friendly, and received us in English. Even better, they provided us with some Dutch children's books, which our daughter enjoyed. There is... More

We recently moved to Athens and have struggled to find places to keep the kids happy!! This place is fabulous. Four rooms with different activities for the kids to play with. I wish there were more places like this. The staff were all really kind and helpful. I had both my kids by myself (3yo and 14mth) but they helped... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighbourhood Profile
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
