We sought out Wine Story our third day in Athens to get advice on Greek wines. We like good wine, but we aren't particularly picky. The young woman working in the shop was very friendly, and made two recommendations confidently without asking much about our preferences beyond "red or white." One bottle was 9 euro, the other was 21. The... More

We stopped in on our first day in Athens and asked for advice on a bottle of white Greek wine. They asked our price range and we told them 10 euros or less. We had found really good Greek wine for less than 10 Euros in Crete. The young lady who helped us was very pleasant and she very quickly... More

After giving up on finding great IPA style beer at a restaurant in Athens, my wife and I found this place. The selection, quality, and pricing is all very good. We found some rare beers here and again low prices. You can also fill your own bottle of wine.

Staying in Syntagma

Neighbourhood Profile
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
