In the Plaka, in a fine Art Deco mansion - complete with its original interiors - is a fascinating museum of Folk Art, once the home of Angeliki Hatzimihali, a talented painter and researcher who had gathered a fine collection of Greek folk art. She received prizes for her work at the 1925 and 1937 Paris Universal Exihibitions.

If you have an hour to spare, close to Syntagma, this small museum in a beautiful house, is worth a visit. It's an oasis of peace away from the hustle and bustle all around. Interesting well laid-out displays of traditional Greek folk life and art would benefit from better descriptions. And it's free.
