For me it was a particular experience to walk around Athens, going a bit farther and far from the main touristic areas, and it was like that because I have never seen a city so similar to Caracas: people's behavior, temperature (at least during spring),...More

The vegetable market is all right. The spices, vegetables, fruits are fresh and tasty. As far as meat market is concerned ... sensitive souls shoud walk through quickly: cattle heads, beef tongues, brains, hearts and guts are displayed as in the good old times without...More

This is the market to visit for any and all kinds of fresh meat and fish. It is not for the faint of heart, if blood bothers you, you may want to avoid this place. Overall, though I have never seen such an expansive display...More

This place was cool!!! Tons of stuff to buy and random meat. You can see them butchering it. At the very end there is a restaurant. GO THERE. It is so good!!!! I can't remember the name.

A nice break from touring all the historical sites around Athens. This is a very busy city market, but the sights, smells, colors are well worth the visit. Place for great photography .

This place is crowded in the morning (try visiting early so you get the fresh fish), but late in the night you can find some really nice plates served, in the taverns located within the market. Mainly for meet though.

Central Market has fresh produce, meats, fish, coffee, olives, sweets, spices, souvenirs and many more items. Wow seeing the butchers in white coats trimming and getting cuts ready for the customers was outstanding to see. Walking through the market itself was just phenomenal.

Large city market with numerous stalls and vendors offering fresh produce, meats, coffee, olives, sweets, dry items...souvenirs, housewares, etc. Many prepared food items to enjoy, so try something different like souvlaki, dolmades or saganaki...yummy!

the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its
underground stalls, the square is now mostly
frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The
most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set
off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually
coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a
