Visit the market!

Always a wise thing to do. Visit the local market. Good place to find small gifts to take home for friends and family, and yourself. It's got a little bit of everything. But... read more

We came to this market thinking in was the Saturday market in Chania and realised that this is a more established market. But disappointed as a lot of the same stalls and felt like it was quite set up for tourists with lots of the same nik nak stalls. A nice coffee place within. Worth a wander if in the... More

Went all around the covered market and had a oddly flavored pastry (not recommended) from the shop at the intersection of the wings of the building. Perhaps people looking for olive oil or some such items might have a go, but the general shopping left a lot to be desired. Overall cleanliness was lacking. Could have done without and just... More

If you love cooking, this is the right place to buy all your Extra virgin oil and greek herbs. This is cute marketplace with everything under one roof. Its a covered market and had everything from vegies to meat to bags to souvenirs. It should give you a reference point for prices before you start exploring the Chania town. It... More

Always a wise thing to do. Visit the local market. Good place to find small gifts to take home for friends and family, and yourself. It's got a little bit of everything. But don't spend all of your money here, there are great little shops all around this area... check them out to find the best deals.

Well worth a half hour or more of taking in the sights and smells of Cretan food, drink and flowers. We had a great value lunch at a small, narrow family run cafe that had a selection of their produce in a heated glass fronted cabinet, sorry we cannot interpret the name from the receipt but it's worth hunting down.... Here is the perfect place to shop for gifts and souvenirs to take back home! The various ventors are selling everything, from delicious greek products like loukoumia, nuts, spices mix for cooking, olive oil to handmade soaps, souvenirs and various crafts. Had a nice time walking around exploring the shops and choosing gifts to take back home.

This was the last stop on a shore excursion that we booked. If you are on a cruise and do not want to book an excursion you can easily take a bus to and from the port for a few euro. We had a very enjoyable time at the market shopping for Greek merchandise. At the market you can buy... More

These people were foodies before people in the U.S. even knew what that meant. Best of all, they are willing to share their stories, of the food they produce and sometimes even their own. It was here I had my first stuffed zuchinni blossom, a lesson in olive oil, a lesson in honey... I could go on and on. And... More

Agora market is in the border line between the old and the new city of Chania. It has mainly food products (Cheese especialy) Soaps, Olive oil and olive oil products and some nice bakeries and other shops.
