One of our first stops on Heraklion, very easily found. This castle has a rich history nicely explained inside the castle. The castle has an entrance fee of 2 euros if I remember correctly. Required visiting time is up to a max of 2 hours....More

This is a well preserved fortress that has been restored. €2 was a bargain to get inside. In the caverns below there were some good information written in Greek and English about the great siege. Also a canon ball repository and some canons. Up top...More

Interesting old castle. Very cheap entrance fee, 2 euros. Lots of cannons and cannon balls. Very ancient amphoras.

Do take the time to stop off here when visiting Heraklion. Not only a tremendously strong presence in the harbour, it is well worth the small sum of 2 euros to go inside. The fortress is kept in good condition internally and tells the story...More
