Rethymno Venetian Harbour is a beautiful setting. very historic. Quite central in the old town. Avoid the restaurants at the waters edge. They tend to be more expensive than those a little further in, and the food is not as good. Some quite aggressive restaurant owners down where the pirate boat is.

Worth a promenade, some of the bars further away from the centre knock out bangin' tunes and there are shops selling ridiculously priced clotes for the more money than sense shoppers. Closser to the Fortrezza it becomes a bit more low key. There are some excellent bars and restaurants, unfortunately there are a couple with extremely pushy 'front of houses'... More

Athmosphere! Go there and feel it. Many good restaurants where you can eat and drink and watch fishermans boats etc.

I visited with my family Venetian Harbor last March on a sunny day. It was great, we spend 2 hours walking around the harbor and we stopped for a coffee.

Make sure you take a night walk and enjoy the view from the lighthouse!!! Bonus: If you wake up early enough, see the sunrise from the lighthouse! What an amazing way to start your day!!!

The Venetian harbour is a relatively small harbour with some fishing boats. In March the restaurants around it are closed which makes it very quiet. Nice for a short stroll. If you want to see a more impressive Venetian harbour travel to Chania.

Interesting harbour in the old part of Rethymnon...Not too many boats but it was nice to see and have a coffee there.
