WOW! Quick tip: stay for at least a day (3 the best) in Oia. Oh and take a good camera :-) Small but absolutely beautiful village. Good food, markets and friendly people. Very expensive near the top ;-)

We took the boat at 2pm from the old port and it was a good time to go even though it was definitely hot!! There was a nice breeze which was quite helpful on the hike up. Be sure to wear good shoes for the...More

A lovely walk and well worth a visit. Not quite the picture perfect pointed volcano with a crater (Santorini is the Crater!) but the desolate barren hillock in the centre of the crater, still warm with the magma below the surface is a brilliant visit....More

I made the mistake of reading TripAdvisor the morning of the excursion and almost talked myself out of it ... so glad I didn’t! I love Fira and enjoyed the excuse to head to Old Port which is just beautiful like the rest of the...More

A short boat ride from Santorini old port. It's included on some inexpensive trips. The island has a small charge to enter and there is an informative leaflet on the various eruptions showing how the island has been growing recently. Easy to walk around at...More

We came to the volcano as part of an island cruise. It's not much more than just a pile of rock. Although active, there was no plume at the time we were there so it wasn't really exciting. The volcano isn't your traditional cone-shaped volcano...More

Santorini volcano island is different from the last volcano i visited, mount Ethna is Sicily. It is not high and the route comprises small black stones and is not sandy. However, it provides a pleasant walk with beautiful, changing views of the surrounding sea and...More

There are lots of different boat and tour companies who offer trips to the volcano, but we booked ours online with Dakoutrous (€20pp) for a trip to the volcano, with a guide and a visit to the hot springs also. We thought this was excellent...More

The hike is quite strenuous, the views aren't that great, and you don't actually see very much. I think there are cooler places to hike and experience.

No- it is not. There are lots of steps with no access for disables. You might have to rent a car- however, their bus service is pretty good and cheap.

I agree with kcarters. It's not an easy climb at times and the footing is always unstable, so I'd advise that you leave it for another visit. The view is amazing but not worth the danger for you
