We came here to see the Costaki Collection of Russian Avantgarde art. We learnt from the very helpful woman at the front desk that they exhibit only small parts of it at a time as the entire collection consists of around 1500 Russian works and even more Greek pieces. What we saw finally was very interesting and spurred several conversations.... More

The place is inside an exhibition park, near the archaeological and Byzantine museums, with good light and space to show, and a lift for mobility challenged. Exhibitions presumably vary - this March the main focus was on violence, loss and famine- but it had to be that art could communicate without words since the labelling was Greek + German (... More

I love the story of this collection- Mr. Costakis was a driver for the Embassy, not an art professional, not a diplomat, just a guy with a great eye who compiled this stunning collection. Seek it out-it is an easy trip on the #27 bus from anywhere on Egnatia and ask the driver where to get off for Moni Lazariston-... More

We visited the "Malevitch and his followers" exhibition. Interesting for documentation, but a pity that only a small part of the famous Costakis collection was on display. Museography was extremely poor. We were really very disappointed. Only good point: entrance is free of charge.

Very important museum, both for its collection (the largest collection of Russian avant-garde) and for its building (Lazaristes Monastery).

This is a small interesting gallery located in the Expo area .Really struggled to find it but was glad I did.Interesting work featuring some local artists.Head for the large post office tower look alike.Invest in a good street map when you arrive as free ones are pretty poor and there is sadly no tourist information which this city deserves.

The Kostakis collection,a postmodern collection of early russian revolutionary art is the gem of this museum . Presented in an old renovated francescan monastery, situated in a western neighbor of Thessaloniki , needs a taxi from downtown . Very quiet atmosphere .Paintings are presented in a thematic way. Parking place for car owners. This is a MUST for lovers of modern... More

This special museum displays its works in a quiet, unpretentious setting, and this for a very modest fee! In short, a real treat for lovers of modern art, including some "gems" unlikely to be found elsewhere.
